Thank you Marlin Medical Foundation!

We were thrilled to be selected as one of Marlin Medical Foundation’s first grant recipients! Their generous gift of $1,000 kicks off our effort to secure a larger space that will allow volunteers to do more than just drop off boxes of books.

When we first started, we focused on book drives and just collecting books, but as we’ve grown, we’ve found that what we need is a larger space with room for volunteers to help prepare and assemble starter libraries. One of the biggest bottlenecks in moving books through our organization is the time needed to sort books to remove those that are not age-appropriate or too damaged to distribute, wipe down baby books, and flip through pages for stray pencil marks or names of previous owners.

While we’ve had no shortage of interest from volunteer groups, our current space is so small that we have to move boxes into the hallway in order to enter! This donation from the Marlin Medical Foundation is a great way to kick off our campaign to create a community space so we can engage more volunteers and distribute more books throughout North Texas.

Thank you to David Marlin Edwards and the Marlin Medical Foundation for getting us started!
